WHAT
What Are Permanent Wire Retainers?
Permanent wire retainers (also known as fixed lingual retainers) are a hidden and permanent way to keep the results of your orthodontic treatment. After treatment we take a 3D scan of the new position of your teeth. From that scan we create a custom wire that sits behind your front 6 teeth with a tooth coloured filling material that is shaped to be smooth and comfortable.

Why Are Clear Removable Retainers Important
Our customer made vacuum formed retainers (also known as clear retainers) are part of your post treatment plan to hold the new position of your smile. These are worn at night to prevent teeth moving out of position over time. We will create the retainers are no extra cost as part of your treatment plan and give them to you after treatment.

Your teeth move slowly overtime naturally; after completing your smile journey we want to make sure you keep your smile results for years to come. This will take the form of either fixed wire retainers or a set of removable retainers both of which aim to keep your teeth from moving too much. If you have removable retainers you should wear them every night before going to sleep.
Over time with the natural movement of your teeth the results of your smile journey may change. We highly recommend wearing removable retainers if they are part of your post care plan
As part of your treatment plan, we include a post care plan with your removable retainers. We will include instructions and all the items necessary to make sure your retainers remain clean and sanitary.
On average removable retainers last about 3+ years if maintained and stored correctly. Make sure to keep the retainers away from hot water, harsh chemicals, vinegar or any kind of mouthwash.
